Our Story
Four Generations of Heritage
Since 1942, the Loomis-Zimmerman family has worked this Central Coast land with faith, grit, and a deep respect for what the land provides.
Our Heritage
E.C. & Clara Jatta Loomis
The pioneer
E.C. Loomis
Founded 1942
Edward Clinton (E.C.) Loomis arrived in San Luis Obispo County in 1882 and became a foundational entrepreneur — establishing grain brokerage and agricultural operations that sustained the family and region for decades. He married Clara Jatta and together they raised 9 children. In 1905, E.C. entered the general brokerage business, and by 1909 had become sole owner, building the Arroyo Grande Warehouse Company. His vision and honest work set the tone for every generation that followed.

2nd Generation
Ivan & Christine Loomis
Mid-Century Stewards
Ivan and Christine Loomis established the ranch through the mid-twentieth century. After serving in the Navy in WW1, Edward's oldest son, Ivan, returned to join the family business and it was then renamed E.C. Loomis & Son. Ivan and Christine married, and later purchased Tar Springs ranch in 1942, deepening the family's roots in the Central Coast ranching community. Christine was known for her hospitality and her ranch-raised turkeys.
Andrew & Peggy Loomis
3rd Generation
Andrew David & Peggy Loomis
Vision & Mission
Andrew David & Margaret “Peggy” Loomis met volunteering as camp helpers in SLO County. Both served in the armed services during WW2, but had a vision to impact the Central Coast and the nations through mission work. They raised 4 children and created a lasting legacy — tithing 10% of their generational land back to the Lord (now part of Fort Hope & God’s Country non-profit).
Mike & Joan Zimmerman
4th Generation
Mike & Joan Zimmerman
Building the Legacy
Mike and Joan Zimmerman carried on the ranching tradition, raising their eight children on the land while homeschooling them and deepening the roots of faith, stewardship, and community that define Zimmerman Ranch today. The couple first met at Cal Poly before marrying and dedicating over 20 years of their lives to local leadership, serving as a volunteer firefighter and deeply involving themselves in their church and 4-H. Alongside this active ranch and community life, Mike also served the area as an attorney, practicing alongside his father-in-law, Andrew David.
Aaron & Veronica Zimmerman
5th Generation
Aaron & Veronica Zimmerman
5th Generation
Aaron and Veronica Zimmerman are the 4th generation stewards of a portion of the family Ranch, continuing a deeply rooted family legacy on California's Central Coast. Driven by faith, family, and a profound respect for the outdoors, they're raising their four children to love and care for the land just as they do. Through regenerative land practices, hunting, and raising pasture-raised livestock, the Zimmermans are dedicated to sustainable agriculture and fostering strong community connections for generations to come.
The Land
Acres of California Rangeland
Nestled in Huasna Valley east of Arroyo Grande, the ranch spans rolling oak-studded hills and productive coastal range — land that has been stewarded by the same family for generations.
Come visit the ranch, ask about beef shares, or just say hello — we'd love to hear from you.
